HERE'S THE DEAL

We think it's important to understand the impact of education in developing countries before you hear our heart and consider supporting this initiative.

For those of us in the USA, we think of graduating from a college or university as an accomplishment easily within our reach.  For a student that comes from the poorest communities in a developing country, college or university graduation is nearly impossible.

Many organizations that have set up shop in the developing world primarily help educate students in primary (K-8) school.  If the students stay on course, they are eligible to go to high school - and there are fewer organizations doing this, but they exist!  After high school, college and university education is usually economically out of reach for the student or their family or the organizations that help them to this point.

So that's where we come in.  Flywheel Scholarships provides college and university tuition scholarships for proven students - and partner with the organizations who assisted them with their high school education.  One person receiving a university education can radically impact their family and community.

Without higher education, how will the Developing World world country shed the "third world" tag?

Two points that are key to this:

  1. Educate the individual within their home country. It is unlikely for a young person educated in the USA to return to their community after graduation. Also, the tuition costs in the developing world are incredibly affordable (read on!).

  2. Partner with the right organizations on the ground. We do not give money to the student, the family, any government or directly to any institution. We promise to partner with organizations that are committed to providing us with qualified and motivated students - and will account for the students’ costs and progress.
